Fleeing violence

Burkina Faso is a peaceful and generally stable country. There is a strong sense of community, even though people have different beliefs and backgrounds.

However, many of Burkina's neighbouring countries have experienced unrest. In the video, we meet Thomas and his family. They fled Ivory Coast during the civil war in 2000.

Though Thomas, his mothers and six of his siblings are safe in Burkina Faso, they are very poor. In Ivory Coast, Thomas’ father had a job, but here he must look for work in the capital, Ouagadougou.
