Children's stories
Videos in this website have been put together by children living in and around SOS Children’s Villages. They’ve captured their thoughts, opinions and ideas to present a new perspective on Africa through their own eyes. The result is this evolving ‘Our Africa’ educational resource.
SOS Children has been working in Kenya since 1975. There are currently four Children’s Villages in Kenya. Find out more about SOS Children in Kenya.
Apart from making videos for this resource, each group of young people filmed their own short video (sometimes more than one) on subjects that matter to them.This is what the children came up with:
Team A – The Aftermath
In this video, Team A brainstormed ideas on what their film should be about. All felt strongly about the history of SOS Children. They used their knowledge and personal feelings to tell the story of the charity's heritage.
Team B - Kenyans fight for their rights
Victor, the main character, portrays a journalist reporting on the shortage of water in one of the slums of Nairobi. Water shortages are a huge concern for thousands of people living in the slums. Victor wants to be a journalist when he grows up and took to filming and reporting extremely well. In fact, he was a natural.
