It’s an important nut
Bobo visits a local market where kola nuts are on sale. People in Mali chew them as a mild stimulant because they contain high levels of caffeine. As you can see, the nuts vary in size – smaller ones sell for around 25 francs, but larger nuts may go for double the price.
Bobo explains how important the nut is for many social occasions in Mali. For example, when meeting someone new, a kola nut may be given as a gift.
