Watching the celebrations for a marriage in Namibia, some elements will seem quite usual, such as the pre-wedding party.
However, certain aspects of this celebration follow the customs of the Damara people. For example, the families of the bride and groom exchange gifts of meat at the party.
The groom's family brings along a goat, which is slaughtered during the evening celebrations. That's one way to ensure the meat is fresh.
The service in church looks pretty familiar though, complete with beautifully-dressed pageboys and bridesmaids. And you can’t miss the bride in white!
